Amanda Haas Halim, has over 1200 hours of yoga training in various styles and traditions. Her Yoga journey began around the year 2000, as a teenager. In the Zen Buddhist tradition, she has taken lay ordinations, engaged in in-depth study and continues to contribute to the communities of various Zen centres in Berlin and beyond.
In 2010 her path led her from Lucerne to Berlin where she continued her Hatha Yoga journey and later immersed herself in Ashtanga Mysore. In 2014, Amanda completed her first teacher training of 350 hours, specialising in Anusara-Iyengar-Sivananda influenced Vinyasa with Helen Meyer at Yogibar Berlin. From 2012 to 2018, Amanda deepened her Ashtanga practice further with renowned teachers in the Richard Freeman lineage, including Ty Landrum and Grischa Steffin. She mostly studied with Nora Hug and additionally completed several intensive courses, with David Garrigues or Max Czenszak. In 2017 she completed another 100 hour teacher training in Ashtanga Yoga.
In 2022 she concluded an extensive, multi-year teacher training with Dr Rose Erin Vaughan of Science of Self, NYC. It included various styles based on Hatha and Vinyasa, Yin and Meridian Yoga techniques, Bhakti, philosophy and Mantra chanting at its core. The training also integrated Traditional Chinese Medicine into the teaching methodology. This led to a 500 hours Yoga Alliance teacher certification.
Teaching Approach
Internal Practice, as Amanda calls her teaching approach, focuses on our individual place in life. It is about discovering our own personal calm space from which to nourish, share and engage. It's a way of cultivating a very individual practice that goes beyond a one-size-fits-all approach. Amanda’s unwavering devotion to Yoga and Zen has been her path of self-discovery and spiritual growth. She wholeheartedly looks forward to learning from others and sharing her practice with her students at The Looking Glass.
