About
ANATOMY OF BREATHING & DIAPHRAGMS
with Hugo Abecassis
January 30th-Feb 1st
"Breath is the vehicle of consciousness and so, by its slow measured observation and distribution, we learn to tug our attention away from external desires toward a judicious, intelligent awareness" BKS Iyengar
Even in asana practice the breath plays a central role, as it underpins both the physiological effectiveness and the mindful quality of permanence and movement.
Integrating anatomical knowledge of breathing softens and refines the practice and also helps practitioners recognise breath related patterns like holding or shallow respiration that may increase strain.
PROGRAM
Some topics that will be covered in this workshop:
Breath in relation with asana practice
Breathing patters
Anatomy and physiology of breathing
Harmonizing the diaphragms (in a Sacro Craneal perspective).
Breathing mechanisms
Pranayama
In asana practice, awareness of these anatomical structures supports efficient oxygen exchange while also facilitating neuromuscular coordination and proprioception.
