BIO:  Kristen Watson Geering: she/her

About her classes: Her classes are called “Open” because after 18 years of teaching, completing many trainings in different styles, she doesnt want to conform to one cult/method but rather pulls strengths from each, informing what she wants to present. Typically a flow style with hands on assists, the use of props like belts blocks and chairs pop up, and mantra and philosophy to round it out.)

About her: Growing up in Wildwood Crest, New Jersey, Kristen decided to trade the Atlantic Ocean with the Pacific, and moved to San Diego to attend the University of San Diego in 1999. She thought she was never leaving her new found paradise after moving to Encinitas, North County upon Graduation. Here, she was lucky to be in the MECCA of Yogaland in its early days, with the most well known teachers and devoted students in front of and alongside her mat. Studying with everyone from Erich Schiffman, Shiva Rea, Dharma Mitra, Tim Miller, John Friend, Michelle Bouvier, the list was long, and she soaked up more mantras, green juices, and drum circles than one could count.

But life changes… as you know. ;) So Leaving the Love of the ocean and sunshine in Encinitas, CA, for the Love of her Life and his son, Kristen arrived permanently in Basel in January 2012. In late 2013, she co-opened Oneyoga Basel and in early 2016 continued on to open The Looking Glass Basel as sole owner and director. Since then, she has been striving to offer a place where everyone feels at home, welcomed, and that both teachers and students alike can Grow and Flourish. She believes that open communication and dialogue allows for everyone to be both teacher and student alike, and that we all have experiences and educations that can broaden what we all know and how we all do things- why limit ourselves... <3

Combining over 18 years experience as a full time yoga instructor, an M.A. in Spiritual Psychology (another reason to love California,) coaching practice, and a Deep Love of Human Experience, Kristen's classes serve to create a safe and uplifting space, where you can be yourself, and dive into the paths of yoga at your own pace.

Since April 2007, Kristen has completed over 8 different teacher training methods, and countless workshops and intensives in between. She just loves being a student. After a Hot yoga training in 2005, She began her foundation within the Jivamukti Yoga Method, with both the 300 hr TT (2007) under the co-founders David Life and Sharon Gannon, and the 500- hr advanced apprenticeship in NYC, under her mentor Sandhi Gayatri Ferreira (2011.) In 2012, she spent a Month in Laos completing a Month Long Thai Massage Training, just because she wanted to get better at hands on work and assists. Next came a 100 hr yoga therapy/anatomy training and then the 200 Hr Liquid Flow TT with Simon Park (2017.)  Most recently, in the last 4 years, Kristen has dove into, completed, and continues to weave in over 300+ hours of Katonah Yoga. What fascinates her about Katonah yoga is the use of Chinese Medicine, 5 element theory, the maps and metaphors, and body reading. Finally, she recently completed her 50 hr Yin and Trauma Training (2024,) Yoga Nidra training with Scott Moore (2023), and Yoga for Trauma Training with Solemarch (2021/22/23).  She’s definitely hit her 10,000 hr mark in both teaching and training, but finds being a Student the Best thing Ever, and the landscape is always changing, as well as her classes, so why stop.

In addition to teaching, and wearing the many hats a yoga studio owner does, Kristen is offering workshops and Retreats, her 250 HR Yoga Teacher Training- Fertile Ground, a 250 Hr Advanced Mentorship -Blossom, a 50 hr Yin Yoga Training- Deep-In, in-class-privates where she assists you in another teacher's class, as well as normal 1 on 1 privates.

Please get in touch with her for more information regarding yoga or her soul-centered coaching practice:awakentothepath@gmail.com

She looks forwards to sharing the human journey together.
