About
Joy Bolliger
Thursday’s Vinyasa 18.15-19.30 and Yin 19.45-21.00
Joy was born in Basel and moved to Cape Town at the age of five, where she was raised and lived until she turned twenty-five. It was in Cape Town that she discovered yoga, just before returning to Basel. Since then, her yoga practice has flourished, and she has remained deeply devoted to it, both on and off the mat.
Joy completed her 200-hour teacher training in Goa, India, and her 300-hour teacher training in Bali, Indonesia. Her yoga style has been shaped by the many classes and teachers she encountered during her travels, with the yoga practices in Cape Town serving as her primary inspiration.
Joy's yoga sessions emphasize the importance of breath as the guiding pace. She often begins with a pranayama exercise to center and focus the mind before moving into the rest of the sequence, where breath continues to be a central force. Each session concludes with an extended shavasana, allowing participants to fully absorb the benefits of their practice.
